Too Close To Call
Not that I would base my vote on a silly internet quiz. Nor can I vote for half the people on this list because half the Democrats have dropped out, and I cannot vote in the Republican primary. However, the quiz does show how close all the Democrats are policy wise. Still trying to decide...

Working 9 to ...
It is 5:30pm. I have been at school since 8:30am, and after putting in a solid 9 hours of work (minus 15 minutes for a lunch break), I feel like it is time to go home. Unfortunately I will be at school for many more hours because I have a 10pm journal meeting. I guess I could go home at this point and come back, but the weather outside is far too cold for me to wait at the bus stop to come and go.
My plan is to work, at a leisurely pace, up until my meeting so I can have a completely free 4-day weekend. While I think I can get a few more hours of work done, I am slightly starting to lose my mind. I cannot find documents that I printed out, I even forgot why I was still at school.
What is the moral of this story? I cannot work at a big law firm. Not that I planned to. However, if there was any lingering desire to sell my soul after graduation, today has quashed that aspiration.
I can put in the long hours, and probably will today. However, I could not imagine working 12+ hour days every day, even if only for a few years.

Crazy in Love?
Another law school lesson courtesy of Wills, Trusts & Estates:
A court may find that a person does not have the mental capability to manage one's investments, to make a contract, or to make a gift.
A court may find that the same person does not have the mental capability to make a will.
But a court may find that same person does have the mental capability to get married.
Yes, a court upheld a marriage but invalidated a will made on the same day as the wedding. Funny that we have different levels of mental capacities for different types of contracts, and the lowest threshold is for marriage. It actually explains so much.

Me and the Man
Last summer, I fought the man. Defended civil liberties, assisted in writing habeas corpus briefs against the government and their Guantanamo Bay detainees, and raised awareness about big brother-esque video surveillance policies.
Next summer, I will represent the man. I will be at law firm that defends, among other clients, school districts and hospitals.
And this semester, I am the man. Being part of the university administration that so many of my friends loathe or have fought against. I had my first official day at American University's Office of General Counsel and it was fun, especially since I got a big leather executive chair.
