Last summer, I fought the man. Defended civil liberties, assisted in writing habeas corpus briefs against the government and their Guantanamo Bay detainees, and raised awareness about big brother-esque video surveillance policies.
Next summer, I will represent the man. I will be at law firm that defends, among other clients, school districts and hospitals.
And this semester, I am the man. Being part of the university administration that so many of my friends loathe or have fought against. I had my first official day at American University's Office of General Counsel and it was fun, especially since I got a big leather executive chair.
